For nine months I did not know
For nine months I treasured your kicks
For nine months I listened to your heartbeat
For nine months I sang and talked to you
For nine months I held you close
For nine months I loved you every minute
For nine months I did not know how it would end
And now that I do.....
I would not have changed a thing.

Dear Nora,
Thank you for the short time
we shared. It was only nine months
but to my heart it was a lifetime.
You left your footprint with every kick
The beating of your heart
told me how alive you were
I cherish the time we spent together
the early mornings, the late nights.
But most of all I will always remember
that I was chosen by God to carry an angel
And you became that angel within me.
So my daughter, thank you for our time together. I promise I will never
forget.
Love Mommy

and are being published here in memory of a dearly loved child named Nora
Elizabeth who sadly died on June 3, 2001. Christine Grothe, Nora's mommy,
has a beautiful website dedicated to remembering Nora's life and death
where you can find photos, journal writings, and more poetry. My heart
goes out to Christine and to all the other bereaved parents around the
world who are trying to find ways to live after the death of a child.
