"In
Other Words..." from PJW Publishing "In Other Words..." A most interesting concept is finally brought to fruition! For a long time, many of us in the bereavement community have talked about how Hallmark just doesn't cut it when it comes to finding greeting cards for bereaved families or for when families are dealing with terminal illnesses, etc. And many of us have threatened to take on Hallmark and create our own line of cards and put them out in the world. But I'm thrilled to tell you the Pat J. West (whose poetry we've published several times in our online Journal) has made manifest on her ideas!! And these are awesome cards. They seem to incorporate real family photographs with that very "Dirt Farmer Wisdom" style to them. I love that some of the artwork even seems to incorporate those old timey photo corners that our grannies used to post the photos into the old scrapbooks. The graphics are beautiful and personal and so interesting! Then there's the actually lines of greeting used on the front of each card. (The inside of the cards is blank for your own pen to fill.) These are some awesome lines:
And six other equally as wonderful lines! I know that PJW Publishing thought that these cards were going to be niche cards for terminally ill patients, but I think they are perfect for offering comfort to bereaved families after the death of a child. One of the cards in particular says, "There are days when life steals teh smile from your face." How true is that?! So, if you want to get your hands on these cards, here's the deal: In Other Words... And PJW sent us an email here at KotaPress to say that they are currently working on a website to feature electronic previews of the the cards. Possibly thru the site they'll be taking credit cards, too? Not sure about that. But we'll add that link here and in the grief links when that site posts. Okay, don't miss these awesome cards! Check them out!
