Frequently Asked Questions About Kota Articles
Why does the site look different? As of May 2006, we went live online with a new version of the KotaPress website. This is the first face lift the site has had since we launched in 1999. It was long overdue and desperately needed, so content could be more reasonably managed and accessible to our readers. Once you get used to it, we think you'll like it much better! I once read or contributed an article to the Kota Loss Journal, and now I can't find it in this "new" version of the site. How do I find it again?Well, there are two options. One, the old version of the Loss Journal archive is still online in the background. If you have the link to the old page, then it should still work. However, we are actively pulling that content into this new design, based on topic rather than date. If you can't find it based on the topics offered here or through the "Search Site" button in the far left side menu, just email us with "KOTA ARTICLES" in the subject line of your message. We'll help point you in the right direction. How do I go about contributing articles to this Kota Journal? Please see the Home/What's New/Submission Guidelines page of this site for details on how to contribute to our site. What if I want to print out or share copies of Kota articles with my friends or support group? Please note that all material here is copyright protected! Do not just print pages, reproduce and distribute materials from this site!! You can do several thing instead. One, copy the link of the page you want to share and send the link out to people for them to come to the site directly and read here. Two, write to us with "KOTA ARTICLES" in the subject line of your email to ask for permissions to reprint or republish. If we retain rights for granting those permissions, chances are we will say yes. If we do not retain rights, then we will point you to the person who could grant those rights. Forthe PDF versions of A Different Kind of Parenting zine, please see the Home/Parenting Zine/Intro section of our site specifically as we do grant limited rights for that zine. Who is Kota? Why was KotaPress created?Kota is the nickname for our son Dakota Jones who died on March 11, 1999. His life and death changed our lives entirely and KotaPress is a big part of that shift. You can read more about us in the About section of this site. Who is on staff at KotaPress? For the most part it is just Hawk & Kara Jones, Dakota's mom and dad. We do subcontract some of our more techie work to Peter Jones, Dakota's brother. We also have several volunteers who help contribute regularly to the site and zine. Katie, Charles' mom, is one of the volunteers who has co-edited the Loss Journal with me for several years now. In the past, we have also had interns and volunteer book reviewers also. Again, you can check out the About section of the site for the latest information about who is helping out around here. |
