Poetry M - Z > Mayer, Brian
By Brian Mayer
GRIEF
He lives with tears of reminiscence
She does not speak of that day
His morning comes with petition for redemption
She will not speak of that day
His life is a search for reasons
She quietly ignores that day
He loathes the act of remembrance
She is in denial of that day
Let us grieve together
Let us grieve and howl at the night
Let us grieve if only to relieve the moment
Let as grieve to celebrate new life
Let us grieve each to their own being
Let us grieve without absolute wrong or right
Let us grieve before this night has ended
Let us grieve at the dawn of morning light

Amazingly...yesterday afternoon
My wife looked over to me...testified
That her one regret in life was that she had not
Held our still born son
Unsolicited...unexpected...unusual
Yet...it is a start
